KakaoTalk Biz Channel Connection Guide

Because of the review steps, the whole process takes about 1~2 weeks (including 3~5 business days for channel review + 1~2 business days for template review). The work your clinic does directly takes under 1 hour; Coauths handles the rest.

Requirements

Before starting the KakaoTalk integration, here is what your clinic needs to prepare:

  • Business registration certificate — required to apply for Kakao Business Channel verification.
  • KakaoTalk channel (business verification complete) — if you don’t have one yet, Step 1 below walks you through creating it.Open Business Channel →
  • KakaoTalk channel admin phone number — the number that receives the SMS verification code when issuing the sender profile. It must match the number registered in the Channel Admin Center.Register Sender Profile →
  • (Medical institutions) Medical institution registration/license certificate — may be required during Business Channel verification and the review of some templates.

Selecting, contracting with, and integrating the API for the BSP (Kakao’s official dealer) is handled by Coauths. Your clinic does not need to sign up with a BSP directly.

Setup steps

KakaoTalk cannot be connected with a single button like other channels, because messages can only be sent through Kakao’s official dealer (BSP). However, the BSP contract, integration, and CRM registration are all handled by Coauths. Your clinic only needs to proceed in this order: open the channel → issue the sender profile key → send it to Coauths → template review → verify the connection.

1

Open KakaoTalk channel + verify Business Channel

Time required: 30 min + review 3~5 business days

To send messages via KakaoTalk, your clinic first needs a KakaoTalk channel (Business Channel) under its own name. If you already have a verified channel, you can skip this step.

  1. Open a new channel in the KakaoTalk Channel Admin Center (center-pf.kakao.com)
  2. Apply for Business Channel verification using your business registration certificate → review 3~5 business days
  3. After passing, complete the required settings: turn home publishing ON · enter customer center info · confirm the switch to Business

For the detailed steps, see the Business Channel guide →

💡 Medical institutions may be asked for an additional medical institution registration/license certificate during review.

Issue the Sender Profile key (senderKey)

Time required: 15 min

The Sender Profile is the key that identifies “who is sending” a KakaoTalk message. Once registration is complete, you receive a 40-character hex senderKey, and Coauths can only proceed with the BSP integration once this key exists.

  1. On the sender profile registration screen, enter the Kakao channel ID (@yourclinic) and the admin phone number
  2. Enter the SMS verification code sent to the admin phone
  3. Copy and store the issued senderKey (40-character hex)

For the detailed steps, see the Sender Profile registration guide →

⚠️ The verification code is sent only to the admin phone registered in the KakaoTalk Channel Admin Center. If the number differs, issuance will be refused, so please verify the match first.
💡 If this step is difficult, a Coauths representative can do it together with you. Feel free to ask.

3

Send the sender profile key to your Coauths representative

Time required: 5 min (Coauths handles the rest)

Please send the information you obtained to your Coauths representative. All subsequent integration work is handled by Coauths.

Information to send

  • Sender profile key (senderKey) — the 40-character hex issued in Step 2
  • Kakao channel ID — in @yourclinic format
  • Branch to connect — if you have multiple branches

What Coauths handles

Once registration is finished, your representative will let you know, and the KakaoTalk card on the CRM’s Settings → Channels page will show the “Connected” status.

💡 The senderKey is confidential. Please do not share it with anyone other than your Coauths representative.

AlimTalk template review (Coauths can register on your behalf)

Time required: 20 min + review 1~2 business days

AlimTalk can only be sent with templates that have passed Kakao’s review in advance. Only informational messages such as appointment confirmations and reminders pass; promotional content must be sent via FriendTalk.

  1. Send the wording you want (e.g., appointment confirmation, post-treatment cautions) to your Coauths representative — Coauths registers the template and submits it for review on your behalf
  2. Wait for Kakao review — usually 1~2 business days
  3. Once approved, Coauths registers the template in the CRM and you can send right away

Parts that change, such as the patient’s name and appointment time, can be inserted as variables in the #{variableName} format.

If you want to write them yourself, see the template writing + review guide →

💡 Wording that could be read as medical advertising (price discounts, guaranteed results, etc.) is easily rejected. Please refer to the passing patterns in the guide.

Verify the connection

Time required: 5 min
  1. Add the clinic channel as a friend on your own KakaoTalk
  2. From the CRM, send a test of an approved AlimTalk template to your own phone number → confirm receipt on KakaoTalk
  3. (If using SangdamTalk) Send a message via the channel’s 1:1 chat → confirm it arrives in the CRM inbox

Once you have confirmed this far, the integration is complete. If sending fails or the channel card shows an error with a “Reconnect” button, please let your Coauths representative know.

💡 SangdamTalk (the feature that receives patients’ 1:1 chats in the CRM inbox) is a product that requires a separate contract. If you need it, please contact your Coauths representative.

Common issues

AlimTalk fails to send (“Invalid template” error)

If the message body differs from the approved template by even one character, Kakao rejects the send. Whitespace, line breaks, and punctuation must be identical. Editing a template requires re-approval — if you need a wording change, tell your Coauths contact and we will handle the edit and re-submission for you.

SMS verification code never arrives during sender profile registration

The code is sent only to the admin phone number registered in the KakaoTalk Channel Admin Center. First check that the number you are registering matches the one in the Admin Center, and also check your carrier's spam-blocking settings.

Business Channel review was rejected

Common reasons are a mismatch between business registration info and the channel name, or an incomplete channel home. See the rejection-reason checklist in the Business Channel guide, fix the issues, and reapply.

Patient messages on KakaoTalk do not appear in the CRM inbox

AlimTalk and FriendTalk are send-only products. Receiving patients' 1:1 chats in the CRM inbox requires a separate SangdamTalk contract. Contact your Coauths representative if you need it.

Can we send promotions or event announcements via AlimTalk?

AlimTalk approval only covers informational messages such as appointment confirmations and reminders. Promotional content must go out via FriendTalk (to channel friends), and only between 08:00~20:50 Korean time.

Is there a daily sending limit?

A newly registered sender profile starts with a default limit of 1,000 messages per day. After a period of stable operation the limit can be raised — Coauths handles the increase request with the BSP on your behalf.
