WeChat Verified Account (微信认证)
The verification process that activates a Service Account's API permissions. Overseas entities pay USD 99/year and must renew annually.
Why is it required?
Signing up for a Service Account alone leaves some API features locked. You must complete Verified Account verification to activate the following:
- API access permissions — auto-reply, sending messages, reading user info, etc. (required for CRM integration)
- Visibility in channel search (previously only direct ID entry was possible)
- A verification badge → higher patient trust
- Higher daily sending limit
- Ability to set up a custom menu
Fees (overseas entity vs. China entity)
- Overseas entity (海外法人主体): USD 99/year — Visa/Mastercard
- China mainland entity (中国大陆法人): RMB 300/year — Alipay / WeChat Pay / bank card
For a foreign entity, USD 99 is the only option. The payment screen guides you automatically.
Application steps
- Log in to the MP console (mp.weixin.qq.com)
- Left menu 设置 → 公众号设置 → 微信认证
- Click 申请微信认证 (Apply)
- Confirm / re-enter information:
- Entity information (per the registration certificate)
- Legal representative information (per passport)
- Operator information (personal WeChat + mobile number)
- (Medical) You may attach the medical institution opening license
- Agree to the terms → proceed to the payment step
- Payment (USD 99 or RMB 300):
- Visa/Mastercard appears automatically for overseas entities
- Once paid, you enter the review queue immediately
- Review begins → monitor the status
Review + video interview
After payment, the review takes 7–14 business days.
Typical flow
- The review team checks the documents
- (If needed) A request for additional documents — notified by email, usually requiring a reply within 5 days
- (If needed) A video interview — to verify the operator's identity
- Review passed → verification badge + API permissions activated
Video interview (optional)
It is not part of every case, but it is conducted when additional identity verification is deemed necessary.
- A WeChat video call directly with the operator
- Chinese or English (can be requested)
- Hold your passport and registration certificate up to the camera
- Around 10–15 minutes
- Conducted during China mainland business hours (UTC+8, 09:00–18:00)
Annual renewal (miss it and you get cut off)
This is the most common cause of a broken CRM integration.
How to handle it
- You can apply for renewal in the console starting 30 days before expiry
- Notifications: WeChat sends an alert as expiry approaches (to the operator's WeChat app)
- Add a re-verification reminder to your calendar one year out (handle it 3 months ahead)
Frequently asked questions
Q. Is the USD 99 refunded if the application is rejected?
No refund even if the review is rejected. However, after the reason is specified, one re-application can be made without an additional payment (the existing payment is applied).
Q. Additional documents are requested because we are a medical business
Attach the Korean medical institution opening notification / license, along with an English or Chinese translation. For aesthetics/cosmetic surgery, the medical advertising pre-review result issued by the public health center can help.
Q. My verification was rejected
Main reasons: (1) entity information mismatch, (2) operator identity verification failure, (3) missing additional documents for a medical business, (4) the registration certificate photo is unclear. Fix the issue per the stated reason and re-apply.
Q. What are the next steps?

📍 Paying the USD 99 with a company card is more convenient for accounting. The invoice can be downloaded from the console after payment.
